Description:

    Spherical roller thrust bearings are designed in such way that their rollers are spherical shape, and the raceway surface of housing washer is also spherical, so these bearings are self-aligned. According to the diameter series, the angles of misalignment are permissible within the range of 1°-3°.The larger the load, the smaller the angle. These bearings are separable formed bearings, and are featured by the extremely large axial load carrying capability and meanwhile they can also accommodate certain radial load. However, the radial load should not exceed 55% of the axial load anyway. Since these bearings are self-aligning, they are not so sensitive to the mounting error and bending of the shaft. In order to prevent the rollers from sliding movement opposite to the raceway under the effect of the centrifugal force when the bearing is running in the circumstance of shaft and housing washer separated, therefore a certain axial load has to be carried by the operating bearings. Oil lubrication is commonly applied while these bearings are working.

    Applications of spherical roller thrust bearings can be found in oil mechanism, hydroelectric generators, vertical motors, propeller axle of vessels, tower cranes and squeezing presses etc.
